Our Skate, Skate, Skate
On Wednesday Night - July 30, 2003

An almost perfect skate night - - except for one cloud. The big, black one! There was never a group announcements, just a slew of half-dressed-up skaters, sprawled throughout the Carter Center parking lot – asking each other about the extent of other’s meteorological expertise. “I just came from Brookhaven and the sky was sunny over there,” exclaimed Don R. Others were more confident about the havoc that potential tornado-like weather can play on inline skating. Deb C. and Bonnie B. thought it best to postpone their skate for another day. James M. held out the palm of his hand to finalize his inkling. No words were spoken, just a low grumble that soon turned to a more audible growl.

Jeff checks the weather forecast.
Minutes ago it was sunny to the North, South, East, and West.
But he now sees that its cloudy above.

Paul makes contrails in the newly falling rain.
He was one of a number of people who strapped
equipment on and were rearing to go !!!

Ann and Paul clap for themselves after making
a final decision that – yes – they were going skating - -
rain or shine!

Lisa fearlessly lead a group of skaters to the other side of the parking lot.
As she and her following dashed under a helpful tree - for protection from the
increasingly hard rain - she asked a sincere question to the group of loyal men…
”What do you call it when you have to admit defeat?"

Ann beckons Marc to come in from the now torrential rain.
Her point was well taken.

I am not able to easily make the lighting more even
without making the shears look less exciting.

.

This is the color of purple that the camera
is recording. I can make it more purple and
more bright, but this will affect the shears.

Would you like me to try to change the color
of this background? Or is it Ok?

.

The lighting is the same for all shears.
Notice that the lighting on the handle
appears to be fairly even.

Any darker and the handle becomes
too dark. Any lighter and the blade
becomes too bright.

Is this the correct side up?
The name is upside down.

Is this the correct side up?
The name is rightside up - but the shears appear to be upside down.

Our Skate, Skate, Skate
On Monday Night - July 28, 2003

A perfect skate night to initiate APRR’s weblog. No clouds in the the late July Atlanta sky, and temperatures hovered in the mid 70’s. Only a slight breeze brushed our faces. Perfect !!! Mark Day gathered the large gaggle of talkative skaters and reminded us of New York’s Big Apple Roll, of the up-coming Duluth Marathon, and of course the Atlanta Area’s own US 10k Classic - held in September, on Labor Day Weekend. Without further ado, David S. took lead of a slower skate group to the Downtown area; Carl C. led an intermediate group to “Everywhere,” and Erik M.,’s faster skaters blasted to East Lake.

(The Slower Group) went south with four new skaters in tow: Chris, Doreen, Jerry, and Steve. It was no doubt a huge group of happy skaters that mobbed the streets leading to Boulevard Ave. and toward Grant Park. Our wise leader, David, soon made the decision that a group, “So Big,” would make crossing the downtown intersections “Just Terrible.” With her usual smile, Ann S. skated forward and took lead of several of the faster skaters. “We’re going to Turner,” she announced. With the Braves out of town, and traffic at a minimum, everyone was blissful.

The smiling mob of slower skaters eagerly anticipate “hitting the road.”

Could these be coal miners coming home from a long day’s work?
No. It’s actually Yong and Chuck making their way through
the Estoria Street Tunnel.

Iron Man – Michael shows off his battle wounds.
“I'll be alright,” he quickly stated.

Allen rockets up Edgewood Ave.
The rest of the skaters had to wait until the Carter Center
before they could finally stop him.

Ann once again proves her leadership skills
as Clayton and Stephanie strive to keep up.
Clayton agreed that it was a good skate.
